Color blocking...it's a love/hate relationship

I'm slightly obsessed with color blocking...along with most things from the 80s that are making their way back...I see it everywhere...but we've developed a love/hate relationship....usually because I'm super jealous of anyone that does it correctly which makes me hate them, or it's done really wrong which makes me hate whoever screws it up.....Plus it's kind of cocky and pretentious...Just kidding...The problem is, when done wrong, it reminds me of a preschoolers room, or someone that ran out of paint...but when done well, it can add SO much to a space...Examples of good...

Done in black is probably my favorrite...So good...the black adds a lot of sophistication and chicness to the space...Found here...

Not generally a mint green/Easter green fan, but this space is done really well...The white color blocking really gives the illusion of taller ceilings and adds some architectural interest....Found here...

Emily Henderson's guest room makeover (Found here)...a great example of how to use color blocking to use a color you love, that could overpower a space...The green might have been too much if she hadn't used white color blocking at the top..It brings your eyes up, and makes the ceilings feel taller...

Everything in black and white...

Black and white can really add a lot of sophistication to a space...They are not colors I use regularly, probably because I'm not super sophisticated, but can't wait for the opportunity to try it on for size....hint hint...

Bring it inside....fall edition...

Have I mentioned lately that I love the fall...no?...oh let me tell you again...I L-O-V-E fall...Here's some examples of how to bring it into your home....

Bringing a pop of orange and some deeper browns can really add warmth to your home that is great in the fall...Like this...

You can also add coziness...with textured blankets or pillows...or even just a roaring fireplace...

Fur adds coziness...

So does anything knitted....

Oh, it's so close I can smell burning leaves...or maybe the house is on fire...hmm...anyways how do you decorate for Autumn?

I am no chef...Fall edition...

It's getting close...really close...Oh fall, how I love thee...especially the foods that only taste good this time of year....or they taste good other times, but you don't tell people you just ate them...like when you eat chili in the summer, when it's 97 degrees, that's weird...Anyways, here's what I've been pinning, most of which I've tried myself, other's I will soon...

Crock pot applesauce....delish plus makes the whole house smell amazing...Found here...

S'mores cupcakes (haven't actually tried this one yet but eager to)...."Hey Smalls, you wanna s'more?..Some more of what?"...10 million points to whomever/whoever (?) knows what that's from...I know most people think of s'mores as a summer food, but in Kansas even at night it's usually too hot for campfires, our fire pit gets used 10x more in the fall, so around here s'mores are fall food. 

Pumpkin spiced latte....my absolute favorite....Try them...I'm telling you...go here...

Get in my closet....Fall edition...

Saying "I love fall" is kind of like saying Jensen Ackles is cute....It's a complete understatement....I'm obsessed with Fall...Cooler weather, good food, football, apple pie, pumpkin patches, and everything else. With September coming soon I find myself "pinning" a lot of fall stuff lately. Therefore, I wanted to pass those along to you, both some recipes I've tried in a post later this week, and today some clothes I hope make it to my closet soon, and finally a post about how to bring fall into your home....

Adorbs...Boot socks=great look with the boot and leggings. I'm a boot and legging kind of gal...in fact if you don't see me wearing those in the fall, I'm probably naked...so stop staring...

Love this look...Leggings, leather jacket, knee high boots, and a white button down...perfection

Scarves...I love scarves....Especially this one, by Marc Jacobs, I wish I could justify this price...then again I can justify anything....

The high waisted shorts and tights look...Love it...Too bad heels don't really work for me, you know since 75% of the time I'm at home, and I might be a little overdressed, or I'd totally rock this look....or fall on my face...but still...

Riding boots....Love them, especially the worn leather ones, I got some last year and during the fall I never want to take them off......
